Yorkshire Terrier

Yorkshire TerrierYorkshire Terriers have been part of my life for many years now, and I can't imagine being without them. Not only are they part of my life, but true companions and friends.

At birth, the Yorkie's coat is black and tan, but that changes as the pup grows up.

They are non-shedding.

Yorkies love excitement, it doesn't take much coaxing to get them interested in doing fun things. They are small and have a lot of energy.

A Yorkshire Terrier can have most of it's needs met through indoor play, but still prefers a daily walk or romp in a fence-in yard. Yorkshire Terriers are well suited for apartment life.

The Yorkshire Terrier is one of the most delightful breeds to own, and if isn't  unusual for people to have two. If seems that one is not enough, the women of the house want a small lap dog, and who ends up with the dog at her side, the better half. So the 'his' and 'her' sweaters are back in style by way of the Yorkshire Terrier.

TEACUP MYTH
Teacup Yorkies are really toy Yorkies that run under 3 pounds when full grown, which can take of couple of years or they sometimes quit growing at about 1 year. They are not a special breed, they are just runts. Runts are usually very obvious as soon as they are born as they weigh only about 2 ounces, while the normal size is 4 to 6 ounces. These little jewels die very easy and require very special care.
